Course Description
The purpose of this course is to define, identify, and explore the class of compounds known as terpenes. Terpenes exist abundantly in nature and are especially concentrated in cannabis. There are over 200 terpenes identified in the cannabis matrix.
This course will explore terpenes’ role in plant defense and therapeutics and dive into the top terpenes found in cannabis and their potential impact when consumed. When we consume cannabis, terpenes are the compounds that are thought to most dramatically influence the mood of the experience. Through video lectures and visual aids, this course not only introduces the terpenes, but also provides a thorough portrait of their role in cannabis medicine. Learners will come away with an understanding of the most common terpenes found in cannabis and their associated properties as well as greater therapeutic value.
